It’s no surprise that Oldwalls is one of our favourite local venues to shoot Weddings in South Wales. Oldwalls was one of our first Gower weddings a whole 6 years ago. Nestled in 50 acres of countryside, Oldwalls describes itself as a luxury wedding venue in the heart of the Gower. Our first impression of oldwalls was impressive. It’s an extremely well oiled machine in every aspect from the impeccable timing to the superb standard.of food and service.  Our very first Oldwalls wedding was in the auntumn of …. and since then it’s only improved with constant investment in the building, decor and all the little things that add up to make a big difference.

Taking it a step further, they added the exquisite Mulberry House to their portfolio providing the perfect location and setting for a bride to get ready for her big day along with the rest of the bridal party.

The moment you arrive at Mulberry House you feel a sense of grandure with its big wrought iron gates which swoop open revealing the rolling fields over towards oldwalls and then of course the beautiful Mulberry house itself. There’s a huge open kitchen and living room for you to relax on the morning of your wedding day, enjoy a few glasses of bubbles and of course have your makeup and hair done in comfort.

Getting to Oldwalls on time couldn’t be easier. It’s less than a five minute journey and that includes squeezing that stunning dress in and out of the car.

Why we love photographing weddings at Oldwalls Gower.

Oldwalls offers the complete package as far as photography is concerned.  The ceremony room also known as the oak room is adorned with a wall of glass ,flooding the room with sunlight so we can see all of your family and friends as you say ” I do “.  As you strut your way down the red carpet being showered with confetti, gather everyone together for the huge group shots and all important family portraits, you can do so without being pulled left right and centre, with the whole courtyard to yourself without dodging members of the public, passing cars or the worry of sinking into soggy grass.

With some wedding  venues you can be limited to a just the grounds for your couple portraits, but being close to the sea and sat in the Gower peninsula you do have a few options. Just 15 mins away you have Llangennith beach with its rolling dunes and endless sands. Couple that with a beautiful blue sky and a gentle sea breeze and you have a wonderful location for a little getaway for your portraits.

Just around the corner you have Weobly Castle. It wouldn’t be Wales without a castle afferall!  On a windy grey day it can make the perfect location to nip to for some epic portraits. Stone walls, doorways and little nooks make us very happy indeed. Its a wonderful place to take 5 minutes to yourself too, say hello, have a snuggle and let it all sink in. To have your wedding portraits at Weobly, all you have to do is contact them and pay a £25 fee.

The grounds of Oldwalls aren’t exactly terrible either. The first thing you see when you get to Oldwalls is the epically long drive way leading down to the venue. It makes for a great spot for couple portraits with the overhanging tree fading off into the distance. From the giant wooden barn doors at the front, overhanging trees by the trio of ponds round the back, there are photographic opportunities to be created all around the venue.

The barn doors are one of our favourite places to photograph against. We’ve shot them in the morning when the lads arrive in their splendour, bridal party shots after the confetti and then in the night, lighting the inside up for something a bit different and unique.

The marquee where your day continues is no tiny tent either. Its been remodelled and updated several times in years gone by and provides a vast space to seat some of the biggest wedding parties. Its light, airy, warm and peaceful.

Finish off your photography in style with your own private firework display too, a perfect last image for your wedding album before you head in for even more dancing.
